LAWRENCE: Lance Leipold, the head coach of Kansas football, seems like he will need to employ another assistant coach in the winter.
FootballScoop reports that Scott Fuchs, the offensive line coach for the Jayhawks, is moving from collegiate football to the professional ranks. According to the source, Fuchs will join the Tennessee Titans as an offensive assistant. This implies that in 2024, KU will have three new assistant coaches on the field, while the other two will be joining other collegiate teams.
During Leipold’s first three seasons leading the program, Fuchs had been at Kansas. Prior to the 2021 season, Leipold hired him as one of his assistant coaches from Buffalo. His contributions to the growth of the Jayhawks’ offensive line, which in previous years featured standouts like Dominick Puni and Earl Bostick Jr., have enabled the program to make back-to-back bowl appearances and to win one bowl game for the first time in over ten years.
In addition to having some returning players at their disposal, the offensive line coach who succeeds Fuchs will have to assemble a new starting lineup. While Mike Novitsky and Puni ended their undergraduate careers and Ar’maj Reed-Adams went to Texas A&M, Bryce Cabeldue and Michael Ford Jr. are back. This presents an opportunity to sustain the group’s rising trend.
