This summer, guard Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors will be free to sign with any team. Could he sign with the Orlando Magic?

The Golden State Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson, one of the best 3-point shooters in league history, may require a new residence, and the Orlando Magic need shooting.

Thompson might test free agency, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, and the Magic might make a bid.

“After the season, he will become a free agent… “I anticipate that Klay Thompson will be of interest to both the Florida and Los Angeles teams,” Charania stated on The Pat McAfee Show.

Thompson, who recently turned 34, is scoring 17.3 points per game on average, which is the fewest since his second season in the league in 2012–13.

Even with the Warriors, his only NBA team since joining the league in 2011, Thompson is not likely to receive the same type of money on his next contract, since he is in the final season of a five-year, $189 million deal.

Thompson might accept a hefty payment from a team like the Magic, who have more cap space than most. Orlando can push for a top free agent with Wendell Carter Jr. and Cole Anthony on very team-friendly contracts, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner still on rookie contracts.

It’s also time for some shooting for the Magic. The Magic’s 3-point percentage as a team is 34.8 percent, good for 29th in the NBA.

Thompson may help the Magic advance in their title ambitions and would have a part in changing that.
