Scotland’s Shankland ‘number one’

Ryan Stevenson, a favourite of Hearts, thinks Lawrence Shankland should be named the finest striker in the Scottish Premiership right now. Shankland is now the Premiership’s top scorer with 22 goals for Hearts in all competitions this season, including 17 in the league.

Stevenson feels there’s no contest when it comes to who should be regarded as the main guy, given that total is four more than Aberdeen’s Bojan Miovski has currently registered in the league.

“Shanks holds the top spot,” he stated in his Daily Record piece. “Hey, Miovski is an excellent striker, and anyone who can consistently outperform the Old Firm is valuable beyond measure.

“Shankland and Miovski have both done it frequently; this season, they have each scored twice against Celtic and Rangers. There are two distinct categories of attackers. Miovski is a fit and accomplished runner. He finishes plays really well as well.

Shankland, though, is a different animal. an unquestionable goal scorer. Take a look at his Wednesday strike against St Johnstone. Incredible. His finish, strength, and touch are all excellent.”

Kyogo ‘too good’ for Celtic

Kyogo Furuhashi’s form issues this season have been attributed by Chris Sutton to Brenden Rodgers. The Japan international’s play has declined recently, and Rodgers has been accused of not knowing how to maximise his potential.

Sutton feels the Bhoys run the risk of losing him in the summer as a result.

Sutton said the Daily Record, “Ange Postecoglou found a way to supply him, Rodgers has not.” “We keep hearing about the need for pace, but Celtic have a player with the best feet and brains, but he hasn’t played to his full potential because his side has spent the majority of the season playing passably.

If Brendan is unable to bring out the best in Kyogo, then it is his fault. It’s an environment failing; Celtic have a proven jewel who is on a different wavelength than most around him. Actually, he’s too good for this Celtic team right now.

McLaughlin latest

There will not be a new contract offered to Jon McLaughlin by the Rangers, sources say. As his time at Ibrox draws to a conclusion, the seasoned goalie’s days with the team may be numbered, according to Football Insider.

At Rangers, McLaughlin is currently firmly positioned behind Robby McCrorie and Jack Butland in the hierarchy, and as a result, he has not played a minute for the first team. The 36-year-old joined Rangers in 2020 after leaving Sunderland on a free transfer.
