Official: Orlando City purchases Muriel from Atlanta
Luis Muriel, a striker, has officially transferred from Atlanta to Orlando City of Major League Soccer, the team announced with a heartfelt statement.
The Colombian international had medical examinations over the past few days and signed a three-year contract today afternoon, reportedly for over €1 million.

“We are thrilled to have Luis visit Orlando. EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager stated of the player, “He’s a player that is known to always be a threat to score, will force defenses to account for him at all times, and has the ability to combine with and make his teammates better.”
The 32-year-old played for Udinese, Lecce, Sampdoria, and Fiorentina over the majority of his career in Italy. In 2019, he signed for €21.2 million, making him the most expensive acquisition in Atalanta’s history.
Muriel told the Orlando City website, “I am very excited and happy to be here, to live the atmosphere that is this city of the team and with a lot of desire to get started.”
“When Oscar [Pareja] and Orlando contacted, I received a number of offers. My choice was influenced by several factors, including the players’ growth inside the club and their shared aspiration to win championships. I can’t wait to get going.
He is the player with the most goals scored off the bench in Serie A history.

Atalanta had previously guaranteed that Muriel will have the chance to visit Bergamo and bid the supporters farewell in style.
