St. Patrick’s Athletic vs. Derry City – Monday, April 22, 2024 – kickoff at 7:45 p.m. at Brandywell

Premier Division of SSE Airtricity

Event supported by Rath Mor and Eurospar

The Candystripes will get an early chance to bounce back from their loss to Shamrock Rovers on Friday night when Jon Daly’s St Pats team visits the Brandywell on Monday night (KO 7.45).

Ruaidhri Higgins had an extremely difficult weekend after his team played some of their finest football of the year in the first half against the defending champions.

“You just can’t concede like that against anyone, let alone Shamrock Rovers because it’s a very long way back from there. Those were really bad goals to give away.”

We’re excited to get back to work on Monday, and I have no doubt that we will succeed in getting ourselves back up soon.

Pat Hoban was a game-winning replacement for City on Friday night, and his return will undoubtedly help them, but boss Higgins will have decent choices at the top end given Danny Mullen’s recent excellent play.

Although there have been some encouraging developments regarding Derry’s injury list in recent weeks, physio Michael Hegarty has informed that midfielder Jordan McEneff is still awaiting scan findings.

Colm Whelan, Sadou Diallo, Patrick McEleney, and Cameron Dummigan are also now out with injuries.

The champions will be entertained by leaders Shelbourne on Monday night, thus points will be scarce at the top of the table.

At the business end, City would be much more competitive if they could win against St Pats.
