Imagine this. The Edmonton Oilers and the Vegas Golden Knights squared off in the Western Conference Semifinals of the previous campaign. The whole team is being led by Evander Kane, especially Alex Pietrangelo. In an attempt to deliberately confuse the Golden Knights, the left winger is blowing kisses to the fans.
Why? due to the Edmonton Oilers’ deadly power play (which led the NHL in 2022–2023 with 32.4%). Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid would score more man advantages if they could force the Golden Knights to lose their composure. They essentially accomplished that, tallying six power goals between them throughout the series.But the Vegas Golden Knights would have the last laugh, taking a 4-2 victory in the series. The Golden Knights’ first Stanley Cup victory is history. But a rematch in the playoffs is inevitable for both teams. Will anything change or remain the same this time?
