The Michigan Wolverines, fresh off a national championship season, have a ton of potential heading into the NFL. QB JJ McCarthy is the epitome of that level of talent. But he still has a sizable number of people behind him.
Mel Kiper, an NFL Draft analyst for ESPN, examined the prospects of those Michigan players in the NFL.
Mel Kiper remarked, “They have a lot of guys who are draftable.” “How many players will be selected in the draft? What number will end up as LA Chargers? What would you consider the over-under for that? Three, three and a half, two and a half, what would it be? It will be intriguing to see how many players Jim [Harbaugh] adds.
Naturally, Jim Harbaugh, the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, was Michigan’s head coach the previous year. He publicly commends his college athletes, and it’s not difficult to see him selecting multiple guys this year.
Keeping that in mind, Kiper continued to study the Michigan players, hoping to find a reasonable replacement for McCarthy as the second Wolverine off the board.”Jim has always loved Mike Sainristil, who is in the third round mix for nickel or slot corner. He would thus be one. However, it appears from looking at the man who followed JJ. Who will be the next man? I believe it would have been guard and outstanding player Zak Zinter, but he was injured. Kris Jenkins, merely because to his ability to complete the task against the run. You’ll get some penetration from him. Sometimes he will go after the quarterback. He should be in the second round, in my opinion. a 300-pound incredibly athletic man. Thus, I would also add that off-ball linebacker Junior Colson is a touch underappreciated, according to Kiper.Jenkins, I would say, although Sainristil still might be. If not for the accident, I would have said Zinter. Roman Wilson is someone you cannot ignore. He ran 4.39. All of the production work he performed with JJ during Senior Bowl week. Corum Blake. Usually, the running backs get pushed a little bit, but he’s in the mix to be a player that can start on day three. There are several players there. Without a doubt. Trente Jones in the later rounds. Kick, can be tackled inside. Michael Barrett, Braiden McGregor, and Jaylen Harrell are the men that I believe.â€
Since the draft was expanded to seven rounds, Georgia holds the record for the most players picked in a single draft from a single school—15, which they achieved in 2022. Although Kiper is unsure if Michigan will surpass that mark, there are many players that have a chance to get selected.
They will thus receive a large number of draftable players. Do they intend to break that record? Who knows? The tight end [Karsen] Barnhart may be selected in the draft, but if I had to wager right now, I might say that Jenkins, along with the others I just listed like Wilson, Sainristil, and Zinter, is the second Michigan Wolverine after JJ.
Adam Schefter: Malik Nabers is the #1 wide receiver in the NFL Draft, according to NFL personnel
Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State has been regarded as the undisputed top receiver prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft for the better part of a year. A month after the incident, some NFL players have changed their minds and now rank LSU’s Malik Nabers higher than Harrison.
Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted on Wednesday, “There are some NFL personnel men who believe Malik Nabers is this draft class’ top wideout.”
Schefter made his announcement shortly after Nabers ran a 4.35 40-yard dash at LSU’s Pro Day.
Representatives from NFL teams were present, and Nabers’ 40-yard dash amazed them all, as did Jayden Daniels, the quarterback for LSU.
Nabers, 20, played three seasons at LSU. He will turn 21 before the 2024 NFL season starts. 189 receptions for 3,003 yards and 21 touchdowns were taken in by him. In 2023, Nabers surpassed all other receiving leaders at LSU with 89 grabs for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. For his achievements, he was selected as a first-team All-SEC and unanimous All-American.
Nabers has demonstrated his confidence by claiming to be the best wideout in this year’s draft class earlier this month at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
“I can walk outside and succeed. I can go around and take up space on the linebacker by going in the slot, Nabers said. I’m not too bad at carrying the ball. You know, I could be moved around and still have that dog mentality by a different offense.
