The Daily Star claims that during the summer transfer window Arsenal is planning a surprise bid to recruit playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest.
Although the Gunners have a strong offensive lineup right now, manager Mikel Arteta wants to expand his alternatives before Emile Smiththe 2024–2025 campaign begins. Since Rowe has been linked to a potential summer departure, the Daily Star reports that Arsenal want to sign Forest’s Gibbs-White to replace his vacuum.
Due to their recent 4-point punishment for breaking the Profitability and Sustainability standards, Forest may eventually face more penalties if they are unable to recover lost revenue. This would open the door for a high-profile deal, and according to Daily Star, the team might let go of their record-breaking £42.5 million signing.
Well done, signing.
Since his historic summer 2022 transfer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Gibbs-White has had a significant impact on Forest. This season, he has contributed five assists and four goals to the team. More obvious opportunities have been created by the attacker, but Forest lacks the forward talent to take advantage of them.
Given Forest’s unstable financial position, they might be inclined to take advantage of Gibbs-White at the right price. He might be Arteta’s substitute for Smith Rowe. When the Spaniard was named the Gunners manager, the 23-year-old was the team’s favorite, but in subsequent years, his playing time has significantly decreased.
While Arteta no longer seems to trust Smith Rowe to alter game conditions, injuries have played a role. The former Arsenal player may then go on. To take his place, Gibbs-White would be a smart addition. The 24-year-old is at the height of his powers right now and has succeeded because to his high pressure and work ethic.
Although he can play anywhere in the attack, he usually feels most comfortable in the offensive midfield and right flank positions. He might be seen by Arteta as Saka and Odegaard’s squad deputy. His willingness to settle for a restricted role at Arsenal when he could be a regular starter at Forest or another team is the major unanswered question.
