The Burnley defender may be headed to Elland Road during the current winter market, according to a rumor that surfaced last week.
Djed Spence’s return to Tottenham Hotspur has caused some to wonder if a successor would be signed before the deadline of February 1st.
Given that Roberts has dropped in Vincent Kompany’s side’s hierarchy in recent months, his name has surfaced as a possible addition.
This season, the 28-year-old has only made 12 Premier League appearances for the Clarets, only eight of which have been starts.
Roberts’ message to Ampadu: Last Saturday, Leeds defeated Peterborough United 3-0 to secure their spot in the FA Cup’s fourth round. Ampadu was named captain of the team.
Roberts sent a message to his fellow Welshman as Daniel Farke’s squad defeated League One opponents, with the midfielder scoring two goals.
“Skipdog,” Roberts posted on Instagram.
On October 21, Roberts made his Burnley debut in a 3-0 loss to Brentford; Vitinho started the game instead of the defender.
The Wales international made 43 appearances in the team’s promotion-winning campaign the previous season, making him a valuable member of Kompany’s first team roster.
With an incredible 101 points, he scored four goals and provided six assists to help the Lancashire team take first place in the second tier.
Since leaving Chelsea for Leeds last summer in a rumored £7 million move, Ampadu has performed admirably.
The 23-year-old has participated in every one of the Whites’ 26 Championship games this season, starting 26 of them and dishing up one assist.
