Terry Rozier led the Miami Heat to a 114-108 defeat over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, tallying 27 points and 11 assists.
On Thursday, Terry Rozier played his greatest game while wearing a Miami Heat uniform.
With 27 points and 11 assists, Rozier led the club in the Dallas Mavericks 114-108 defeat. Rozier’s total of points, assists, and three-pointers in a single game with the Heat on Thursday was his greatest to date. Rozier also recorded double-digit assists and zero turnovers for just the second time in his career.
Up until the last few minutes of the game, the Heat and Mavericks engaged in a fierce duel. In the fourth quarter, which was back and forth, Rozier scored seven points and disheveled three assists. With two minutes left in the game, Rozier even responded to a late step-back three from Luke Doncic with one of his own to keep the Heat in it.
The Charlotte Hornets traded Rozier to the Heat in late January. He took over as the Heat’s starting point guard in place of the struggling Kyle Lowry. Before playing on Thursday, Rozier has only averaged 13.9 points and 5.6 assists in 14 games with the Heat. In 30 games with the Hornets, he has been averaging a career-high 23.2 points and 6.6 assists.
Rozier needed some time to get used to his new squad, but during the last five games, he has been among the Heat’s top players. Over that period, Rozier is averaging 19.2 points.
The Heat’s recent success is largely due to Rozier’s increasing output. In the last nine games, the club has won seven of them.
On Friday, Rozier and the Heat take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the NBA, the Thunder give up the most points to opposition point guards.
