On Monday morning, inside linebackers coach William Inge and running backs coach De’Rail Sims, the new assistant coaches for Tennessee football, had their first meeting with the local media.

The two talked about a variety of topics, including their coaching philosophies, early views of respective position groups, and why they had chosen to come to Tennessee.

This is what Sims and Inge had to say on Monday.

First Remarks
“I am appreciative to Coach Heupel for giving my family and I the chance to attend the University of Tennessee. This is a traditional program with a long history. We are very excited to be here.

Regarding whether one of his career goals was to coach in the SEC
Indeed. When I first started coaching, I believe that you should always have your dreams and end goals in mind, even though you want to be where you are right now. Naturally, my dream and objective has always been to work for the SEC. To be able to accomplish that aim, I simply put in a lot of effort every day.”

Regarding his childhood recollections of Tennessee football
“I was able to watch them on Saturdays while I was growing up, and I thought it was RBU. When I was growing up, you used to watch Travis Stephens and Jamal Lewis when you turn around. Observing them rush through the Power T to enter this place while they were abusing everyone. It was one of those transactions where you respected the program. It was one of those situations where I wanted to play here, but I just wasn’t good enough. This is where my high school teammate used to play. I always remembered watching Tennessee on TV with the utmost fondness.
