The New York Giants’ future with Brian Daboll could be determined by the 2024 NFL season.
According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Daboll—who will be playing in his third season in New York this year—may be under a lot of pressure to have a successful year.
“Daboll’s overhaul of half of his staff amid strained relationships has league sources viewing him as being under real pressure to get things turned around next season,” Duggan stated.
The Giants had a great debut season in 2022, making it to the divisional round. However, in 2023, they had a letdown, finishing 6-11 and missing the playoffs due to quarterback inconsistency. Daboll is hopeful that in 2024, replacing over half of his staff will pay off.
Daboll begins his quest this offseason to improve upon 2024. Despite having the sixth pick in the NFL draft, the Giants are rumored to be open to trading up to select one of the class’s best quarterbacks.
In the midst of injuries, three different quarterback candidates were considered by New York for the 2023 season. Daniel Jones—the anticipated starting next game—played in nine, Tommy DeVito in nine, and Tyrod Taylor in eleven.
The Giants may also select a receiver in the draft to provide Jones with a first-class outlet the following season. Malik Nabers, an LSU receiver and the No. 2 wide receiver on B/R’s Big Board, is projected by Bleacher Report to be selected by New York in the 2024 mock draft, trailing only Marvin Harrison Jr.
Regardless of the path Daboll and the Giants choose, they will undoubtedly require a significant summer to recover from a difficult season.
