The Tennessee Volunteers’ spring practice is quickly approaching, but we now know Josh Heupel’s scheduled podium time for SEC Media Days.

The Tennessee Volunteers football team may be getting ready for the start of spring practice in a few weeks, but on Thursday the SEC announced the program for the 2024 SEC Media Days. For the first time, the event will be held in Dallas, Texas, from July 15–18. Media Days have already taken place in Birmingham, Nashville, and Atlanta.

Josh Heupel’s Tennessee teammates that will travel to Dallas with him are unknown, but we do know when Heupel will be speaking. On day two of the event, the head coach of the Vols is expected to speak from the podium.

Day two will see Heupel joined by a few SEC opponents. Although the coaches’ speaking sequence is unknown, we do know that Kirby Smart of Georgia, Missouri’s

Heupel and the Vols, who finished 9-4 and defeated Iowa in the Citrus Bowl, are coming off another successful season. Going forward, Heupel’s Vols will want to maintain the momentum that was built at the close of the last campaign, with Redshirt Freshman Quarterback Nico Iamaleava leading the attack full-time.

The rookie quarterback taking over under Heupel’s scheme may be the subject of some inquiries. For Vols supporters, Heupel’s plans for enhancing the defense in 2024—particularly the secondary—remain a crucial question. Tennessee’s defense needs to get even better this year if the Volunteers are to go all the way in the College Football Playoffs.

Tennessee’s 2024 campaign will begin with a few challenging opponents. The Vols play their first game of the season against UT-Chattanooga. On September 7, they travel to Charlotte to play the North Carolina State Wolfpack. The Wolfpack, one of the best teams in the ACC this season, will make this a difficult game for the Vols.

Tennessee begins SEC play in the stadium following a home game against Kent State. Heupel earned the Heisman Trophy in 2000 and went 20-5 in his two years at quarterback. Tennessee’s demanding SEC campaign will begin on the road against Oklahoma.

This year, the Vols still have Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky on their schedule in addition to two rated opponents in the first four weeks. Heupel
