NORMAN The Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team broke the program record on Friday night, setting a new standard with a score of 198.675, and went on to hold the top spot in the US for eight weeks running. With the greatest initial National Qualifying Score (NQS) in program history, 198.270, the Sooners are undefeated. For the first time this season, NQS has established the rankings, and that is this week.

A team’s six best regular season scores—three of which must be away—are used to calculate their NQS. The five remaining scores are averaged once the overall top score is removed. NCAA regional competition seeding is decided by NQS scores.
