Several of Jim Harbaugh’s former Wolverines coaches were recruited to join him after he departed Michigan last month to take a head coaching position with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Initially, it was Ben Herbert, the head of strength and conditioning, and Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator. Next up was defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale, then defensive line coach Mike Elston. Jay Harbaugh, the coordinator of special teams and the coach for safeties, left Michigan to become the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks, which is led by Mike Macdonald, a former Michigan assistant.
