To start with Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs need experienced players.
In the middle of his incredible rookie campaign with the San Antonio Spurs, Victor Wembanyama has revealed who his ideal NBA teammate is.
Wembanyama, who the Spurs selected with the first overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, is having a fantastic rookie season. He is averaging 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, and an 81 free-throw % per game.
In their victory over the Toronto Raptors last week, the 20-year-old also made history by being the first player to record a triple-double with blocks for more than three years.
As he continues to win accolades, there’s just one question on everyone’s mind, though: Which player, current or former, would be his ideal teammate?
For a brief moment, Wembanyama was surprised when the NBA posed the question to him.
“My ideal partner to play with?” “Um… dang!” he exclaimed in response to the NBA’s query.
“I mean, Wilt [Chamberlain],” he continued. That would be absurd.
One of the all-time greats in basketball, Chamberlain was an All-Star in 13 of his 14 seasons on the court.
He played with the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors for six years, the Philadelphia 76ers for three, and the Los Angeles Lakers for five during his illustrious career.
In addition to winning two NBA championships, the former center was awarded MVP four times.
Nikola Jokic, a center for the Denver Nuggets, recently expressed his admiration for Wembanyama, saying the Frenchman will “change” basketball and leave a legacy like to that of Chamberlain.
Even though the rookie is still only 20 years old, Jokic predicted that Wembanyama’s effect will eventually become apparent during All-Star weekend.
I appreciate his strategy. Jokic stated, “He truly cares; he’s not afraid of growing weary or feeling “embarrassed” at times.”
“He simply wants to win the game and plays.” He’s giving it his all on the court, as evidenced by the numerous things he’s doing. He is thus a very skilled player.
“I think he’s going to change the game; we just need to give him time to see it through,” I’ve already stated.
