Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols have entered six players for the NFL Draft this year; by the end of the weekend, we may see most, if not all, of them selected. NFL draft selections of Tennessee football players are not unprecedented. After the first three rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Vols possessed the second-highest number of draft picks.
Most significantly, Hendon Hooker, a former quarterback for Tennessee, got
Jaylen Wright, a running back, is the Tennessee player selected with the highest ranking this year. Some mock drafts have him selected in the middle of the second round, but he is more likely to go in the second or third round.
Cornerback Kamal Hadden is the second-highest rated recruit from Rocky Top, after tight end McCallan Castles and quarterback Joe Milton III. Castles is the least likely to be selected out of the three players, who are all expected to be selected on the third round.
Unless a lot happens, it’s unlikely that a Vol will be selected in the first round of this year’s selection, given the team’s late-first-round need for a running back. Wright would be the lone player in the first round since he is the only one who is even close to it.
Each year, the NFL Draft begins on Thursday and lasts for three days. The opening round of this year is set for Thursday, April 25, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The second and third rounds will start at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, April 26. We’ll start day three at 12:00 ET on Saturday.
The NFL Draft of 2024 will take place in Motor City. This year’s “host team” is the Detroit Lions, and the draft will take place at Hart Plaza in Downtown Detroit in Detroit, Michigan. Every year, the free event draws hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world, and this year is likely to be no different.
This year’s draft is available to watch on a number of platforms. NFL Network, ABC, and ESPN will all have exclusive programming.
