Keith Wyness, the former head of Everton, has stated that Leicester City has filed a case against the Premier League in an attempt to prevent a significant deduction of points.
The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, said the Foxes are “playing the long game” like Man City, who have 115 outstanding FFP charges, in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
Leicester was accused last month of violating the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League for a three-year term that concluded with the 2022–2023 season.
In retaliation, the Midlands club confirmed in a club statement on March 22 that they have filed lawsuits against the Premier League and EFL.
Since then, on April 2, they have released their 2022–2023 campaign accounting, which show a £90 million loss. According to Wyness, Leicester has tied Man City and might avoid suffering a significant point deduction. Wyness hinted that Leicester might avoid a harsher penalty if there is a sudden change in the financial regulations.
“Well, I’m still waiting to see how the Premier League reacts to the threat of a lawsuit from Leicester,” he said on Football Insider’s Insider Track program. That will determine a lot, and I believe they are taking the long view, much like Man City has.One potential mitigating factor could be their expectation of a rule change in the near future.

“It was fortunate for us to receive many players at Aston Villa who had contracts that included a 50% relegation clause. This makes it possible for a pay bill to be automatically deducted. “They wanted to guarantee promotion, but they’ll have difficulty getting it,” They’re going to have a headache either way.
