RB Devin Singletary, formerly of the Houston Texans, is reportedly moving to East Rutherford.
The New York Giants had to find a replacement quickly because Saquon Barkley was leaving to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, which was playing on the New Jersey turnpike.
Multiple publications are reporting that Devin Singletary, a former running back for the Houston Texans, has agreed to a three-year contract to join the Giants for the upcoming season.
According to ESPN, the deal is valued at $16.5 million with incentives worth up to $19.5 million.
With the Texans, Singletary, 26, just finished a career-high 898 yards in 17 games with 10 starts. At first, the Texans started Dameon Pierce, but as the season went on, Singletary became more and more of a standout player, and Houston came to value his skills.
His one and only season with the Texans saw him record four rushing touchdowns and average 4.2 yards per carry.

After rushing for 687 yards in 16 games in 2020, Singletary—who the Buffalo Bills selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft—earned the right to start. In 2017, he performed better, accumulating 870 yards and eight touchdowns overall (seven receiving), and 819 yards and
James Cook signed a free agent contract with the Texans last year after moving to Buffalo, and he made the most of his chance to play for a team that advanced to the AFC Divisional Round.
It’s also important to note that Singletary’s tenure as offensive coordinator with the Bills before to his 2022 arrival as head coach of the Giants means that head coach Brian Daboll is acquainted with the player.
The fact that Barkley is playing for the Eagles, a team that the Giants despise, is still shocking to them. Barkley will reportedly sign a three-year contract worth up to $46.76 million when the new league year starts on Wednesday.
Barkley’s X post thanking everyone for his six years as a Giants player virtually confirmed the news.
