Tennessee has long had interested in defensive lineman Ethan Utley of Ensworth High School. Rodney Garner, the defensive line coach, already knew his family, and the whole coaching staff has been focused on him for more than a year. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, he is ranked as the 182nd talent in the 2025 class and had a final five consisting of Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, and Syracuse.
The Texas Longhorns exerted significant pressure to acquire the gifted Nashville prospect, and they will continue to play a role in this recruiting process in the future. But on Thursday night, the Vols pulled off a huge victory when Utley selected them over the other four programs. Dylan Lewis and Tyler Redmond, two current Vols recruits, are longtime friends of his. He recorded 35 tackles, including four forced fumbles and seven for loss. He is expected to make official visits to Tennessee the weekend of June 14 and Texas the weekend of June 21. Tennessee hopes to maintain its momentum until early national signing day after doing a good job of stifling other suitors.
