Celtic moves to sign a highly regarded striker from Nigeria.
Rangers have been able to catch up to Celtic because of their recent struggles in many different areas. Naturally, and understandably so, a lot of attention has been drawn to the Hoops’ difficulties in the transfer market since the summer of 2022. Most of the club’s recent acquisitions have not had much of an impact.
However, it is also impossible to ignore Celtic’s failure to offer their young players the opportunity to succeed in the main squad. Regretfully, the Rangers have outperformed them in that particular area as well.
The good news is that it appears Celtic wants to bolster their youth roster. They also have their eye on a highly regarded Nigerian striker who is presently playing in America.
Mezi Ikemba has been invited by Celtic to participate in trials at the club’s training facilities, according to reports. The Nigerian forward, who is regarded as one of San Antonio’s best players, has made an impression in the junior game by displaying his exceptional skill as an Elite Clubs National League under-15 player.

Ikemba is definitely a player for the future if he joins Celtic, it would be safe to say. It would be unrealistic to expect him to have any kind of effect on the first team anytime soon.
Ikemba’s talent does appear to be the subject of a lot of buzz, though. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that several excellent strikers have recently emerged from Nigeria.
Ademola Lookman, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Victor Osimhen are a few names that first spring to mind. Celtic should sign Ikemba if he proves to be even half as excellent as them.
