Right now, Leeds United is vying for a Premier League promotion.

The Whites, who are presently ranked second in the league, will be driven to finish the season in the top level.

Journalist Phil Hay speculates that if they don’t get promoted, they might have to sell players to balance the budget. They will be hoping for automatic promotion.

Leeds United must aim to return to the top division in order to retain their finest players, as they will not want to violate the financial regulations.

Hay stated on the Square Ball Podcast that Leeds will face consequences if they fail to improve this season and reach the summer.

When Leicester City had to sell Harvey Barnes and James Maddison to balance the books the previous year, they were in a similar predicament. It will be interesting to see how things play out because Leeds won’t want to lose any of their important players in the summer.

At the moment, they trail Leicester City, the league leaders, by three points.

Leeds has performed admirably this season, and if they can maintain their current level of play over the next several weeks, there’s no reason why they can’t get promoted.
