Travis Partridge has extensive FCS experience in addition to Power Conference
Once more, Tennessee State has appointed Eddie George as their new offensive coordinator.
Travis Partridge is joining the Tigers from Ohio Valley Conference opponent UT-Martin, which has set records on the football field under head coach Jason Simpson & Co. in recent years.
Partridge was once employed at Big 12 program Kansas. He is currently another member of Simpson’s unusually lengthy and diverse coaching tree.
FootballScoop was informed by sources that Partridge officially signed his contract with TSU on Thursday night. TSU is currently enjoying a revival in athletics under the direction of enthusiastic athletics director Mikki Allen, a native of Nashville.
Partridge worked with Simpson for three seasons prior at Martin, where he coordinated the passing game and was the program’s quarterbacks coach.
As George, the former Ohio State Heisman winner and longtime Tennessee Titans star tailback in the NFL, enters his fourth season leading the TSU program, he will also coach quarterbacks for the Tigers, who are coming off their first winning seas
Last autumn, the Tigers created history by becoming the first HBCU team to ever play a game at the esteemed Notre Dame Stadium in addition to their six-win breakthrough campaign.
Both of the head coaches in that game, Marcus Freeman of Notre Dame and George, were former Ohio State students.
After spending a total of three years as a member of the Kansas staff, Patridge signed a free agency contract with the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL and then played in the CFL with the B.C. Lions. He also had a brief professional career.
