Rangers FC has honored a supporter who passed away in Lisbon. Thomas McAllister died on Thursday night (March 7) while playing away from home in Lisbon in a UEFA Europa League last-16 match against Benfica. The cause of his death is currently under investigation.

The club released the following statement: “Rangers FC has learned with great grief that supporter Thomas McAllister passed away in Lisbon during last night’s UEFA Europa League match against Benfica. Everyone at the club is sending their condolences to Thomas’ family and friends right now, and we will keep in close communication with the Portuguese and British authorities over this unfortunate event.””On behalf of the club, I want to pass on my sincere condolences to Thomas’ loved ones, family, and friends,” said Rangers CEO James Bisgrove. Everyone at the club has been deeply affected by this news, and I’m sure that all of our supporters will too. There’s no reason why somebody would attend a football game and then stay home. In the days and weeks to come, the club is prepared to help Thomas’ family in any manner we can.

Condolences have also been posted by other supporters on the club’s social media page. A person wrote: “Devastating news, my thoughts and deepest condolences go to Thomas’ family and friends as this time.” “Every bear should go home,” another person commented. Thomas, go to sleep.
