Former Whites player Michael Bridges says Leeds United have been amazing.
Michael Bridges, a former Leeds United player, called the Whites “incredible” and praised manager Daniel Farke for his work. Like many others, Bridges has been astounded by Leeds’ 2024 form, which has seen them enter a title fight with Leicester City after nine wins and a tie in their ten Championship games.
Bridges thinks Farke managed the January transfer window—during which many clubs gambled to help their quest for promotion—perfectly and has faith in his team to finish the job, helped by one player in particular who has drawn attention.
At the North East Football Writers’ Awards, Bridges said to William Hill, “This season’s Championship has been incredible.” At one point, I believe Leicester led by 17 points, and now the difference between them and second place is only three! They are being pursued by Ipswich, Leeds, and Southampton, the latter two of whom have had simply incredible play since January.
Leeds has been given new life by Daniel Farke. Following the January transfer window, they were playing catch-up, but after it closed, he knew precisely who he had and how he wanted to use them. Ever then, they have been amazing. Although last weekend’s tie with Huddersfield was an anomaly, they had already defeated Leicester and Ipswich twice, both of which were enormous victories. In a way, it’s better that they’ve slipped up against the lower clubs, and Daniel Farke and his group have been outstanding.
“In my opinion, this season, Crysencio Summerville has been Leeds’ best player; he is an incredible athlete!” This season, he’s been amazing. It was amazing to witness him score his first Premier League goal against Liverpool while Jesse Marsch was manager. Dropping to the Championship has allowed him to truly flourish, even though he wouldn’t have wanted to, and he has been an incredible talent.
“Quality players in the final third are desperately needed by many Championship sides, and Leeds has several internationals in that area in addition to Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford. They have the true luxury of having six or seven goal-scoring and assist guys on their team. Hopefully, they’ll return to the Premier League the following year.
