Not outstanding, but adequate

Not only could it not have been overly dramatic, but it also might not have been attractive or persuasive. However, we prevailed. That’s all that matters in the end, particularly in a single-elimination cup competition.

Chelsea was still reeling from their loss on Sunday. Leeds United, undefeated in twelve, was on a high. Indeed, they belonged to a lesser category, but it was still only a half table down. For different causes, both sides rotated. The entire weight was on Chelsea. Leeds was not under any pressure at all.

And within five minutes, we gave them a goal.

The least surprising result would have been if Chelsea had collapsed from that point on.

However, we didn’t.

We retaliated aggressively.

We even went ahead!

And then we had one of those annoying 180-degree turns again. On Sunday, in between regulation and extra time, it took place. This time, it took place in between the first and second halves. This has happened much too frequently this season. The metaphorical coin was flipped by the football gods, and “madness” came up again.

Although we had a good number of counterattacking opportunities, we offered virtually little real threat as Leeds United dominated play in the second half and eventually equalized.

Luckily, Conor Gallagher did not miss his opportunity to win it in the closing moments.

Task completed.

We shift.

Perhaps not the kind of game to ponder or analyze in depth. Put it away and concentrate.

“This outcome was necessary. Not a very good performance. Naturally, we didn’t produce enough because this is a confident team. Extremely powerful team. They are winning the Championship with great success.

Naturally, it was difficult for us as well. When you give up after a short while, but I believe the spirit we displayed following this incident, I believe there is something the team can learn from it. Naturally, we were thrilled with the outcome because we were able to escape extra time, scored at the very end, and reached the quarterfinals, which was our goal.

“Losing a final on a Sunday and having only 72 hours to recover is never easy. It’s challenging. However, the effort was enormous today as well.
