For the UNC basketball coaches, a bold 2025 offer sheet would be fruitful.
This week, HS Top Recruits released their picks and predictions for six major 2025 recruiting contests, four of which include the UNC basketball team. According to the account, the Tar Heels are the front-runner for Gonzaga’s five-star guard Isiah Harwell and the front-runner for Gonzaga’s five-star forward Caleb Wilson. Two five-star guards, Darryn Peterson (who is projected to go to Kentucky or Kansas) and Jasper Johnson (who is expected to go to Kentucky), are expected to leave UNC.
Still, none of the four above-mentioned prospects has officially removed the Tar Heels from the running.
It’s also important to keep in mind that Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound sharpshooter who was raised in Lexington, Kentucky, but who freely admits to being a lifelong Tar Heel fan, recently traveled to UNC and saw Wilson and the team play Duke at home. In addition, he plays with four-star center James Brown, a 2024 UNC signee, at Link Academy (Mo.).
Regarding Peterson, after his most recent round of cuts two months ago, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound silky playmaker still counts UNC among his eight finalists.
Five additional students in the class are still deciding whether to recruit despite receiving a basketball offer from UNC. The players include guard Cayden Boozer, a five-star player, forward Koa Peat, forward AJ Dybantsa, and forward Bryson Tiller. Cameron Boozer is a five-star forward, as is his twin brother.
