Sheed thinks MJ wasn’t a very good defender.
The greatest two-way player was Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, even before the term got overused in the NBA. He was recognized for his extraordinary ability to score points as well as his equally outstanding defensive abilities, which led to nine choices to the All-Defensive First Team during his career. However, former player and fellow graduate of North Carolina Rasheed Wallace believes that Jordan’s defensive abilities were perhaps overstated.
The outspoken Wallace claims that the story the NBA created to support His Airness’s brilliance may have had nothing to do with his defensive prowess.
“Mike wasn’t really that good of a defender,” said the four-time All-Star.
“That’s all NBA sh**. We will put Mike up there because we like him. Dadadada. I mean, I’m talking about taking risks. This MFer got his ass kicked in the face after he was unable to stop another MFer.
Wallace continued by saying that he watched players like JR Rider, Clyde Drexler, and Joe Dumars defeat Jordan, claiming that although MJ had defensive prowess, it wasn’t as great as it was made up to be.

“Probably against Clyde Drexler, and against JR Rider. Sh**, don’t overlook Joe Dumars’ early work. Not that he didn’t play defense; I’m just stating that at that point, he wasn’t as good at it as most other cats were. He couldn’t be on the first team All-Defensive for ten or eleven straight games, in my opinion.”
