The Edmonton Oilers’ problems appear to be evolving all the time.
On several evenings, the games don’t begin promptly. Some people nod off during the second period. They aren’t always able to get saves.
Nonetheless, the Oilers’ inability to generate offence from their bottom six has been a problem for the entire season.
And following their 4-2 defeat against the Minnesota Wild on Friday night, a game they ought to have won, head coach Kris Knoblauch was open about wanting more from the team’s third and fourth lines.

After the game, he remarked, “You would like a little more offence from throughout your lineup.” “Five-on-five, you would like everyone to contribute a little bit more.”
“Usually things work out as long as they’re pushing the pace and spending more time in the offensive zoneAt the beginning of the game, both teams appeared lethargic. Matt Boldy, an Oilers killer, scored with 23 seconds remaining in a disappointing first period. He increased his tally of goals against the Oilers to five, and he finished with 10 points in seven games played. He added another goal midway through the third period, which helped bury the Oilers. He hasn’t scored more points than any other NHL club, but that’s a tale for a different section.
Despite falling behind early on, Edmonton came back with a power play goal from Leon Draisaitl, the first of two goals the first unit would score that evening..”
