Tim Steidten might be a more alluring choice for Liverpool.
When West Ham United recruited Steidten, a former player for Bayer Leverkusen, as their technical director last summer, it seemed like they had pulled off a coup.
Although Steidten was wanted by Tottenham Hotspur, he chose to sign with West Ham.
The German started an eventful transfer window, acquiring Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez from Ajax in addition to Konstantinos Mavropanos from Stuttgart.
West Ham has benefited greatly from their acquisitions this season, and supporters would undoubtedly welcome another Steidten summer transfer window.
However, with tensions within West Ham increasing, Steidten might have other ideas.
West Ham fearing Tim Steidten exit
According to a recent article by The Guardian, West Ham is afraid that Steidten would “walk away” from the team this summer.
According to reports, there is “growing concern” within the club that Steidten is unhappy and is about to leave.
Steidten reportedly feels “frustrated” with West Ham’s style of play and believes he should have more authority at the London Stadium.
As his contract with West Ham expires, Steidten appears to be at conflict with David Moyes regarding his desire for a new manager.
After witnessing a January deal for winger Ibrahim Osman fall through, Steidten’s aggravation reached a breaking point, and he has now decided to sign for Brighton and Hove Albion.
Liverpool skulking
Steidten might have Liverpool waiting in the wings if he decides to pursue a move.
According to reports from January, Liverpool is considering Steidten as a potential new sporting director.
This summer, Jorg Schmadtke is leaving, and Steidten’s tenure at Leverkusen is an interesting one.
Steidten was present at the club when the brilliant choice of Xabi Alonso as manager was made.
Liverpool may now try to sign Steidten and Alonso in a double transfer, which would seem to worry West Ham more and more.
