SACRAMENTO-Dawn Pollard, the wife of former Sacramento Kings great Scot Pollard, announced on X Friday afternoon that her husband had a successful heart transplant.
Former NBA player Pollard, who played for the Kings from 1999 to 2003, was diagnosed with a general health condition in 2021. The condition was brought on by a virus similar to the flu. His father, who passed away thirty years ago, experienced the same thing.
He declared, “I’m a goer, I’m a doer,” during a January interview with CBS13. “I’ve never been excellent at sitting around. That has therefore been difficult for the past three years.”According to Pollard, surgeons informed him that his stature reduced his chances of obtaining a heart. They included his blood type, O-positive, which added to the difficulty because of how prevalent it is.
“Surgery went well and I’ve been told the heart is big, powerful and is a perfect fit,” Dawn posted to X. “Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support, but most of all, deepest thanks to the donor, our hero.”
Dawn shared on February 6 that Scot was in the intensive care unit.
