The Tennessee Volunteers have arranged an unofficial visit with 2026 five-star cornerback Samari Matthews (Cornelius, N.C.).
Samari Matthews, a cornerback at William Amos Hough High School, has planned an unofficial visit with Tennessee. April 3 is when he will be in town. With respect to 2026 prospects, the gifted defender is ranked No. 32 by 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. Programs like Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee are among the 28 offers he now has.
In his first two years of high school, he has recorded 46 tackles, two interceptions, and two tackles for loss. Since the beginning of his second season, Matthews has been to Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and South Carolina. It will be his first time seeing Knoxville, Tennessee, and the Vols. Although they haven’t yet signed a top-100 talent at the position, Tennessee defensive backs coach Willie Martinez and staff have done a fantastic job of bringing in elite corners early in the recruiting process.
With these prospects, it’s important to note that Tennessee was Matthews’ third offer. Over the previous three recruiting cycles, Tennessee has benefited from early partnerships and has been among the first few clubs to offer premier players. We will monitor their progress with Matthews both during and following his visit.
