Barnes will take part in the Skills Challenge in addition to being named to the All-Star Reserves as an injury replacement.

All-Star Scottie Barnes is!

All season long, the Toronto Raptors pushed Barnes to be named an All-Star, and that goal was accomplished. Following the announcement that Joel Embiid and Julius Randle will both miss the All-Star Game due to injuries, Barnes and Trae Young were named as the replacements.

Although Barnes attended the previous two games to compete in the Rising Stars tournament, this is his first official All-Star participation.

Scottie is averaging 20.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in his third NBA season. His shooting numbers have significantly improved; compared to his sophomore campaign, he is shooting almost 8% better from three this season.

This year, the competition will resume its traditional East vs. West structure, and he will be a member of the Giannis Antetokuonmpo-led Eastern Conference squad.

But on Saturday night, Scottie begins competing when he teams up with Team All-Star for the Kia Skills tournament. Barnes, Tyrese Maxey, and Trae Young will face off against Team Top Picks (Paolo Banchero, Anthony Edwards, and Victor Wembanyama) and Team Pacers (Tyrese Haliburton, Myles Turner, and Bennedict Mathurin). The three-point competition, the Dunk Contest, and the Steph vs. Sabrina three-point contest are also held on Saturday night.

The All-Star Game, the primary event, begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday. This year, the competition will revert to 12-minute quarters as its format. Teams will fight for quarters in an effort to raise money for charitable causes. There won’t be a target score to terminate the game or an untimed final quarter like in prior years.

Follow along this entire weekend—Scottie is already in Indiana!
