As a premier teammate, Scoot Henderson was ecstatic for Duop Reath when he accomplished a goal with the Blazers.
The Portland Trail Blazers’ 2023–24 season has not gone as planned, given that they traded Damian Lillard in an attempt to completely embrace the reconstruction. However, in the midst of their inconsistent play, the Blazers brass should be evaluating which guys on the roster, in addition to their youthful core of Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons, and Shaedon Sharpe (among others), may be long-term starters.
In order to achieve this, the Blazers signed 27-year-old Australian center Duop Reath to a three-year contract by converting his two-way contract into a conventional NBA one. Reath has performed admirably for the Blazers this season, and Henderson was thrilled for his teammate’s accomplishments when he found out about his new contract during All-Star weekend.
“Yes, sir.” After learning of Reath’s new contract through the Blazers’ official Twitter account, Henderson let out a loud cry. “Yes, sir, indeed. Well, it makes sense! I’m quite proud of Duop, you know. It’s not often seen, but Duop is effective, dude. Every time I return to the gym, he is at work. He’s already perspiring profusely.
In fact, Duop Reath’s rise to prominence as an NBA rotation player is a significant development for the Blazers. Reath, who is 27 years old, hasn’t had many opportunities to remain on an NBA team. Thus, for Reath to establish himself as a keeper in his debut? That is encouraging for Reath’s prospects of having a successful, lengthy NBA career.
With Jock Landale out, Reath, 27, emerged as a key member of the Australian national basketball team and produced a consistent performance as an inside-out big man at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The Blazers brass took notice of this, and Reath has greatly lived up to their confidence in him.
Duop Reath is averaging 8.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from outside the arc for the Blazers through 40 games played so far this season. For at least the upcoming several seasons, he ought to provide Scoot Henderson with a reliable option in the two-man game.
