This season, nine-time All-Star Anthony Davis has averaging 24.9 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. In 2012, the 30-year-old participated for Team USA in the Summer Olympics and contributed to the country’s gold medal in London.
Previously, Davis has stated that he would like to play for Team USA in 2024. This was most prominently stated in an October interview with Spectrum Sportsnet (9:40 mark) during the Lakers’ preseason media day.”When Bron asked me the previous year, I said, ‘If they ask me, I’m in,'” Thus, I’m just awaiting that request,” Davis remarked.
LeBron James, Davis’ Lakers teammate, has spearheaded the effort to assemble a world-class squad for 2024.
In October, The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Joe Vardon stated that James “has so strong an interest in one more Olympics that he is ready to commit for next summer and has also called multiple stars to essentially recruit them to join him with USAB in Paris.” Among the stars on that list are Davis, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry.
Since the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Davis has not competed for Team USA; however, that is expected to change this summer as the Americans attempt to win the men’s basketball gold medal for the fifth time in a row.
