Gilbert Brown, a Green Bay Packers legend, is a devoted and self-assured person. Few former players are as visible at and around Lambeau Field as Brown, a member of the Packers Hall of Fame, who still greets fans at Stadium View Bar and Grill before to every home game. It’s true that it’s difficult to find someone that carries the G as well as him.

Brown, myself, and Brian Maafi of Cheesehead TV and the ATB Network co-hosted the Go Dads Go podcast during the 2023 NFL season. Only a former player’s perspective and analysis can be found in what Brown offered.

We recorded the last 2023 season edition with Gilbert on Tuesday, wherein we discussed the Super Bowl, the Packers’ coaching changes, and various NFL issues. One of these was a recent social media thread that former linebacker for the Las Vegas Raiders Will Compton wrote. Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory in Super Bowl LVIII, Compton wrote on social media that the NFL is rigged and that, as a former player, one should take his statements seriously.

Compton is no stranger to making or being associated with inflammatory remarks, having co-hosted the highly popular but contentious Bussin’ with the Boys podcast with Barstool Sports (recall when they asked Aaron Rodgers how many grandparents he believes he killed by not being vaccinated?). He made a statement, though, and Brown responded by getting quite angry.

Former Las Vegas Raiders Linebacker Will Compton Makes Controversial Claim About the NFL Being Scripted

Here are the posts Compton made about the NFL being written for context:

Brown had a direct message for the former linebacker when he was questioned about these posts on Go Dads Go.

Green Bay Packers Legend Gilbert Brown Has Emphatic Answer to “Is the NFL Scripted?” Questions

Prior to the recording of the episode, Brown was unaware of Compton’s existence. Upon learning about his unremarkable NFL career, Brown expressed the following:

“All right, I’ll tell you immediately. You just won my first Dumb*** Award, Will Compton. Seriously, man, how could you say that? Come on. Guys risk their lives to play this game, and you’re going to script someone getting hurt, really?

Are you suggesting that you will compose a script similar to what my man [Damar Hamlin] wrote for the Bills the previous season? Will you write a script for that? To everyone who has ever played the game, that is a slap in the face.

“Will Compton, you really are an idiot!”

“For saying something like that, they ought to take away from him everything he has ever done in football. The issue is, I planned to tear my bicep so I could play with one arm for the entire year. Will Compton, you’re a jack***.

Brown continues by explaining that he would finally be able to watch footage from Super Bowl XXXII, which he and the Packers lost to the Denver Broncos, if the NFL was scripted. He hasn’t watched any of the game’s footage to this day because the defeat stung too much.

Let’s face it: conspiracy theories are easy to originate and propagate in our culture because of the Internet and social media. Regretfully, people in our culture frequently neglect to conduct independent research.

Should the NFL be genuinely predetermined, what would have been the reason for the death of Corey Stringer, who tragically passed away from a heat stroke in 2001, at Minnesota Vikings training camp? Why would a former athlete who has CTE sign up for that? The majority of NFL players do not actually own the tens of millions of dollars that fans believe every player has.

It’s a rather foolish assertion.
