After averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 assists per game for Brooklyn this season, Spencer Dinwiddie has joined the Lakers.

 

SEGUNDO, California – Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka announced today that the Los Angeles Lakers had signed free agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie.

After playing in 48 games (all starts) for the Brooklyn Nets this season, where he averaged 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 30.7 minutes, Dinwiddie (6’5”, 212) has joined the Lakers.

With five seasons in the NBA, including nine plus with Brooklyn (2022–24, 2016–21), Dallas (2022–23), Washington (2021–22), and Detroit (2014–16), the 30-year-old has averaged 13.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 28.0 minutes while playing in 514 games (311 starts).

With the Nets (2023, 2019), Mavericks (2022), and Pistons (2016), Dinwiddie has participated in 28 NBA Playoff games (seven starts). In those games, he has averaged 14.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 28.3 minutes while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 40.6 percent from 3-point range, and 77.7 percent from the foul line.

Dinwiddie played three collegiate seasons (2011–14) at the University of Colorado before being picked by the Detroit Pistons with the 38th overall choice in the 2014 NBA Draft. Dinwiddie, a 2011 John R. Wooden California High School Player of the Year, graduated from William Howard Taft High School in Los Angeles.

Dinwiddie is set to don the purple and gold jersey number 26.
