Leeds United used just eighteen words on their website to confirm that Luis Sinisterra will be moving to Bournemouth permanently in a transaction that is set to close at the conclusion of 23–24.
Using a relegation loan option that Spanish manager Victor Orta included to his Elland Road contract, Sinisterra, 24, left Leeds on loan and has made a strong start to life at The Vitality Stadium.
Sinisterra signed to Bournemouth on the last day of the summer window, having started the season for Leeds and scored in the 4-3 victory over Ipswich. Since then, he’s made 17 appearances for them.
He has assisted on six goals throughout that time, scoring three of them. The Colombian player has made such an impression that Bournemouth has chosen to sign him. They are said to have paid a £20 million charge for the contract.
Many at Elland Road were irritated by Sinisterra’s move, and Angus Kinnear declared that Sinisterra would not be receiving Christmas cards from the team. Leeds has since confirmed his departure in a statement that is only eighteen words long.
Luis Sinisterra’s statement following Leeds United’s departure says it all.
On their website, Leeds stated, “Leeds United can confirm Luis Sinisterra has joined AFC Bournemouth in a permanent deal, for an undisclosed fee.” Just a straightforward one-liner, nothing more.
Like Ian Poveda’s transfer to Sheffield Wednesday on deadline day, or Luke Ayling’s loan departure to Middlesbrough, the club typically looks into the player’s tenure at Elland Road.
However, it says volumes about Leeds’s relationship with Sinisterra and the annoyance he caused at Elland Road by wanting to quit the team, as he did when he left in the last seconds of the window.
