new york knicks

In order to strengthen their roster before the NBA trade deadline, the New York Knicks are still in the market for players. The influence that OG Anunoby has made since joining the team makes it evident that another player has the ability to put the Knicks in a position to win an NBA championship.

The Knicks still have a tonne of alternatives, and as the deadline draws near, even more will open up. Bojan Bogdanovic of the Detroit Pistons is one possible name among the others. The latest on the Knicks potentially turning to Bogdanovic was reported by Bobby Marks of ESPN.

“I get that everyone becomes engrossed in the big-name players, but what about those $20 million players, like Bogdan Bogdanovic or even Bojan Bogdanovic? Who knows what may occur in Atlanta at this point? It might be a fire sale down there, really. You’re looking at it if you’re in New York. I’ve also read comments claiming that Murray is a Klutch fan and that commercial relations between the Knicks and Klutch will not work. I see that world, but here’s the thing: you don’t have to sell a player on free agency if you can find one who can benefit you and is under contract. If it makes logical, you can go ahead and take action.

Bojan Bogdanovic Makes Sense for the Knicks

Bojan Bogdanovic, although being an entirely different player, might be the scorer the New York Knicks need following the trade of Immanuel Quickley. 19.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists are Bogdanovic’s averages.

Before the deal, Quickley was the Knicks’ go-to player off the bench. Bogdanovic might step in and take over for him now that his position has obviously been left vacant.

In its current configuration, the squad is lacking one thing: a scorer who can come off the bench. Bogdanovic does just that as he’s shooting an effective 46.7% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range.

He certainly has the ability to start, and possibly could if the Knicks decided to trade for him, but the bench might be where he’s better off.

What’s Bojan Bogdanovic’s Asking Price?

This is where the New York Knicks have difficulties. Even though they are the poorest basketball team in the league, the Pistons don’t feel compelled to trade Bogdanovic until the price is right. In December, The Athletic’s Fred Katz revealed the 34-year-old’s asking price.

According to league sources, the Detroit Pistons, who have the worst record in the NBA and an 18-game losing streak, have stated that they would require a sizable offer to sign 20-point scorer Bojan Bogdanović. Bogdanović’s predicament is similar to that of Jerami Grant from a few seasons ago, when Detroit hung onto Grant despite its losing record because he had two years left on his deal. When Grant entered the final year of his contract, the Pistons eventually traded him for a late first-round choice.

It is possible that Detroit will drop their asking price as the deadline approaches, but it seems illogical to trade several selections or young players for a 34-year-old.
