Julian Araujo has had an amazing start to his career in Spanish football. After formally joining Barcelona from LA Galaxy last summer, he was loaned out to Las Palmas later in the transfer window, and he has performed admirably in the first half of the season.
However, Araujo will now be forced to miss Las Palmas’ forthcoming games, according to Sport, after receiving a four-match suspension for his red card against Tenerife in the Copa del Rey last weekend.
Araujo yelled at an opposing player late in the game, prompting the referee to dismiss him. It was undoubtedly a frustrating moment for the Mexican international, given that Las Palmas were down 2-0 at the time (they would eventually lose by the same scoreline), but he will pay the price in the coming weeks.
Araujo will miss Las Palmas’ games against Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid, and Granada. It is a harsh setback for the Gran Canaria side, who will undoubtedly suffer the consequences of being without their first-choice right-back.
