Jadon Sancho’s loan deal from Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund is about to be completed.

Sancho’s return to the Bundesliga has been verified by various sources, including Fabrizio Romano, after the transaction was unexpectedly halted for several days due to minor details.

The England international winger leaves Manchester United under a cloud. Sancho has struggled at Old Trafford, scoring only 12 goals and providing six assists in 82 games since joining from Dortmund for €85 million in 2021.

His behavior with the Red Devils has been questioned for much of the past year. His inability to practice properly or even be on time for team meetings has reportedly upset manager Erik ten Hag, who was embroiled in a public fight with the player in September that resulted in Sancho’s exile.

After being left out of the squad for a Premier League match against Arsenal, Sancho responded strongly to Ten Hag’s post-match comments, claiming he had been made a “scapegoat” on social media.

The post was eventually deleted, but the impact it had could not be undone. Sancho has not been in the Manchester United team since, with the answer being a loan to Dortmund, which United hopes would maintain or increase his transfer worth for a summer sale.

Sancho’s anger at Man Utd remains

Sancho may be out of the spotlight, but he is still making headlines and is clearly dissatisfied at Manchester United.

When Romano tweeted his move to Dortmund with his famed ‘Here we go!’ catchphrase, he added a final insult to Ten Hag and Manchester United by liking the comment. It was a subtle maneuver that he must have been aware of, as it was picked up and spread over social media.

Sancho will, of course, return to Old Trafford in the summer, but the landscape may have changed significantly by then, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover complete and Ten Hag perhaps on his way out.

With a history of indiscretions behind him, it appears that he will struggle to find a place even in the new-look Manchester United.
